What is Singaporean Identity card (IC)?

Singaporean IC is an identity card which is must to have in Singapore for those who are a citizen or permanent resident in Singapore. It must be registered at the age of 15 which is before their 16 th birthday.

Where to apply or register Singaporean IC?

  • You need to register Singaporean IC for 15 years old and re-register for 30/55 years old.
  • Singaporean IC can be applied only in Singapore.
  • If you are registering for 15 years old, you can register on a designated registration day held at the school and if you missed to do, you can do at Immigration and Checkpoints Authority ICA building (address provided below).

Documents Required to register Singaporean IC

For Singaporean Identity card registration, the following documents are required:

  • Birth certificate (Singapore or overseas)
  • Citizenship certificate (if applicable)
  • Student identification card (if applicable)
  • Photocopies of their parents’ ICs
  • A recent passport-sized colour photograph taken within the last three months. Please click here for photo guidelines.
  • Baptism or religious certificate (if the registrant wants to include a religious name)
  • Deed poll for a change of name (if applicable). A parent must execute the deed poll if the registrant is below the age of 21.
  • Additional documents such as Entry and Re-Entry Permits, Current passport, Certificate of Identity (if any), Malaysian IC (if applicable) are required for a permanent resident.

How to register Singaporean IC (15 years old)?

In government school or government-aided school, IC registration will be held inside the premises. If the registrant is from private school or if they missed to attend a registration, they can register at ICA building in person.

Singaporean IC Registration Fees

For both School Registrations and Non-School Registrations, the fees applicable are:

Singapore citizens: S$10
Singapore permanent residents: S$50

For the School Registrations, fees can be paid using EZ-Link while you are registering.

For the Non-School Registrations, fees can be paid using NETS, NETS FlashPay or CashCard while you are registering.

Who can collect and when can collect Singaporean Identity card (IC)?

Collection of Singaporean IC for School Registrations: At school 3rd week after registration

Collection of Singaporean IC for Non-School Registrations: At IC unit (see the address mentioned above) after 7 working days and can be collected by either registrant or an appointed proxy.

Re-Registering Singaporean IC  for 30 and 55 years old

You can re-register Singaporean IC online or in person or by post.

Online:

You can visit e-service link to submit the application and check the status . The total processing time is 3 working days.

In person:

You need to visit the IC unit building (check for the address in the above section).

By post:

It is applicable to 55-year-old IC re-registrants. Send the application form and the required documents to IC unit building. The total processing time is 2 weeks. You can check the status using e-service

Documents Required to re-register Singaporean IC

  • Baptism or religious certificate (if you want to include a religious name)
  • Deed poll for a change of name (if applicable)
  • Marriage certificate (if you want to include your married name)
  • Your recent passport-sized, digital, colour photograph taken within the last three months.

Documents required for sending by post:

Photocopies of

  • Front and back of your current IC or 11B/Home Team National Service IC (full-time personnel)
  • Baptism or religious certificate (if you want to include a religious name)
  • Deed poll for a change of name (if applicable)
  • Marriage certificate (if you want to include your married name)
  • Your recent passport-sized, colour photograph taken within the last three months.
  • Additional documents such as Entry and Re-Entry Permits, Current passport, Certificate of Identity (if any), Malaysian IC (if applicable) are required for a permanent resident

Singapore citizens: S$10
Singapore permanent residents: S$50

Payment method available for online applicant: All kind of Visa or MasterCard debit/credit card, American Express (AMEX) credit card, Internet Direct Debit (DBS/POSB, OCBC, UOB, Standard Chartered Bank and Citibank Internet Banking accounts in Singapore).

Payment method available for applicant by sending post: NETS, NETS FlashPay or CashCard.

Loss of Singaporean IC

What should you do immediately if you lost your Singaporean IC?

  • You should immediately report to the police if you are a victim of crime.
  • You need to report for the lost card and apply for a replacement Identity card in person at IC unit with in 14 days.

Replacement fee for Singaporean IC:

You should pay a fee for your lost IC which is $100 for the first loss and $300 for subsequent losses.

Processing time for Loss of Singaporean IC:

For the first loss, it will take one month to provide the card and for the subsequent losses, it will take around three months
